Dina’s Story
Dina grew up in Tanzania to Congolese parents until she was 11 years old. Her family relocated to Denver, CO where she spent the rest of her childhood. Throughout her childhood, and today, she continues to embrace her Congolese, Tanzanian, and American upbringing. She graduated from UCCS where she studied Political Science and Philosophy. Dina loves fashion, sewing, photography and many other creative hobbies.
Derek’s Story
Derek grew up in the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, IL, enjoying percussion and track throughout school. He moved to Denver, CO to pursue college, and met Dina shortly after starting his first semester. After graduating, Derek began working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, where he now researches material thermodynamics while continuing graduate studies at UC Davis. In his free time, Derek enjoys gardening, working out, and touching grass.
Our Relationship
From bumble-beginnings at Dushanbe Tea House to regular conquests of Mac Nation, Dina and Derek spent their early years exploring Denver, growing, learning, and falling in love. For three years they made memories together in Denver, Chicago, and Miami, before they went long distance in their fourth year together, finally reuniting in California. From here they now enjoy fruit picking, exploring Californias natural beauty, and turning their house into a home in California’s east bay.
